Fibromyalgia Type Eight: Dysregulation of ACTH & Cortisol Associated with Lumbar Pain and Low Body Temperature.

Imagine feeling old and cold. Imagine everything hurting and being afraid of cold weather. Imagine it hurting to stand up and having general aches and pains associated with aging. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) is a tropic hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland. The anterior pituitary gland is what regulates several physiological processes including stress, growth, reproduction, and lactation. The hypothalamic-pituitary axis (HPA) is what controls it. When Dysregulation of the HPA axis occurs, it is a symbol of several psychiatric disorders, including depression and substance-abuse disorders which all could and can affect the ACTH which is regulating cortisol and androgen production.

This imbalance in the brain and body can cause this fibromyalgia type eight to be associated with low libido or sexual dysfunction, nighttime urination, long-term depression and the fear response. For those of you who have never experienced or know what the fear response is; it arises from the perception of danger leading to confrontation with or escape from/avoiding the threat (also known as the fight-or-flight response), which in extreme cases of fear (horror and terror) can be a freeze response or paralysis. The endless cycle that circulates throughout the body can also cause symptoms such as lumbar pain, low body temperature, and long-term depression.
